1. Mix porcelain slip in color of your choice.
2. Due to the tight fit of the mold and the natural shrinkage that occurs with porcelain, the mug’s handle has a tendency to “hang up”. Mist both sides of the mold where the handle is formed or lightly sponge the area with distilled water.
3. Band the mold tightly and pour slip evenly. Allow slip to set up to reach desired thickness (1/8” to 3/16”)
4. It is important to drain the mold with the handle facing down. As the mold drains, the handle must fill up entirely with slip and become solid. You may need to add additional slip to make the handle solid.
5. When the clay becomes solid enough to release, first remove bottom section of mold.
6. Carefully remove another section of the mold (either front or back).
7. Allow the mug to air dry a few minutes before removing it completely.
8. To avoid warpage, be very careful not to put pressure on the outer rim. Allow the mug to air dry until leather hard before trimming off waste piece. Be sure to trim just a fraction above the rim of the mug.
