CHINA PAINTING: Contour Shading
Facial shading brings your doll to life by adding “dimension” to the areas around eyes, nose, chin and “cupid’s bow” (above the lips) Apply color with Modern Lip Brush, or Large Area Brush. Blend with Angular Shader or Medium Filbert Blender. Overblend with small China Mop; this is so that you cannot see a definite line where color begins and ends. Use the same method and brushes for body contour shading as for facial: larger brush for larger area, smaller for smaller area. The Small Doll Pouncer is an added choice for blending. Colors to use: DMR06 Dusky Lilac Pale lilac rose with gray tones. Matt lid blush for many French dolls. DGLM02 Lavender Mist Strong lavender shade, more intense than Dusky Lilac, for eye shadow and eye painting modern dolls. DGSD01 Miraja Shade Gives your doll’s features definition, as a contour color over India Gold porcelain. Use with the other three Miraja colors for a complete look. DGSD02 French Chocolate Shade A delicate brown blended to achieve a natural shading deep in the contours of pieces cast in French Chocolate. DGBR11 Fawn Shadow Warm brown with a hint of gray and pink. DGBR12 Pink Fawn Shadow Soft brown with pink overtones. For subtle color around and in the eyes, nose, ears, arms and legs
